After being a long-standing service customer we decided to use the company to install a heated towel rail. We contacted the company early Nov. and eventually got a date 2/12 they never turned up, never called back they blamed it on an I.T. fault... Gave them another opportunity after speaking to the Office manager and was assured it would be done a week later, the same happened again, Did not show up, no contact, no apology. We have now cancelled our service contract and would not use again.read more

We had an engineer out to fix our heating. It was said to be a priority, as I am a wheelchair user. And 'priority' it was. The engineer was here this evening and we again have heat! The engineer was a lovely young guy. So considerate and so determined to fix the problem. We were delighted with the service by O'Neil Gas & Plumbing. Honestly would not recommend this company. Each and every time they come out to “service” the boiler it ends up broken in some way even though it was perfectly fine when they arrived. We are left without heating and hot water. We have two asthmatics in the house and one is a disabled child and we need a comfortable warm home in winter for them. They aren’t great communicators, will happily leave you hanging and you have to phone them to find out whether they have ordered parts or not and when they are fixing things. Currently without heating or hot water for don’t know how long because nobody seems to be able to tell us when the parts are arriving. Extremely poor customer service.read more

I have been with O'Neil Gas for a number of years, using their maintenance program. O'Neil Gas services are carried out in a very professional and efficient manner with quick responses should they called upon. When making contact whether it be with the office staff or the attending engineers I have found that they are always polite and attentive to my needs, as was my last requirement to my boiler issue, the first engineer to call quickly identified the problem and arranged for a second appointment to effect the nessessary process repair. I will never use this company again. They are unreliable, liars and do not do the job within the safety regulations. They want to get in and out as quickly as possible, leaving some aspects of the job unchecked and unsafe. Not once have they left me any paperwork to say that they have checked the appliance and it is safe to use... Maybe that is because they left me with an unsafe appliance... Shocking! Stay well clear. PS: Do not try to write a criticism on their Facebook Page...They will delete it. Very sneaky.read more

Great service yearly boiler service cant fault the gas engineer I've not had my boiler serviced in a few years so was surprised when the only fault found was o ring seals on the loop hose to pressure the boiler and the yearly service price was a reasonable £72 labour charge glade there was no major parts required as that would have been chargeable. All in all not bad for a 11 year old Boiler . Will defenatly invite them back next year.read more

If I could only give a Zero!! I note this company have posted a selection of 4/5 star reviews - believe me this is extremely misleading to say the least! My elderly parents were talked into a replacement boiler by a cold caller less than 5 years ago through the Government Scheme. The boiler they had was only 8 years old and they never had one single issue with it. O'Neill's replaced this boiler and to date there have been somewhere in the region of 14 call outs for faults with the boiler including a leak which destroyed a bedroom and living room. As we speak they have no heating and no hot water - they are 85 and 83 years old. My father is recovering from heart surgery and my mother is physically disabled. This has been going in almost since the installation. Trading Standards confirmed the boiler should still be under guarantee and we have repeatedly, for the past couple of years, requested this boiler be replaced as it is clearly not fit for purpose. They point blank refuse and today offered to provide a quote for a new boiler!!! I have asked to be contacted by the Director, Brian O'Neill, and still waiting to hear from him. Honestly, please avoid this company. There has to be many other much more reliable companies who will appreciate your custom. This company certainly don't.read more

If you're looking for a company who leave their PPE and tools at your home during the coronavirus pandemic then this is the company for you! The aptly named Brian Crook, finance manager even had the audacity to blame the 'wind' for leaving the PPE at my home. You need to learn to take ownership Brian. This coupled with extensive wait times and multiple visits for the same issue do not make for a great customer experience. My advice is to get your servicing etc from a private engineer or one of the big energy companies who offer a more extensive service, paying a few extra pounds is worth it and you get what you pay for. 🙂 I'll be waiting for the copy + paste response to this review. 😄 Thanks Xread more

Just had my free annual boiler service under my silver plan with O’Neil.Excellent from start to finish. Called to make an appointment. I was given all the relevant information and informed that I would be contacted on the day of the service(23.6.2020). I received a call from the engineer, Brian Thomson, advising that he would be with me in about thirty minutes. He duly arrived as scheduled with all the proper PPE for COVID-19. The actual service was done smoothly. Checked the gas meter and the serviced the boiler. Friendly and informative. My first service. Initial positive impression. Would highly recommend.read more

Would recommend to anyone. I changed over from British Gas in January, as I felt they were getting to expensive for my boiler and radiator cover. O'Neil's were £10 cheaper per month, and made it easy to change over. Just had my annual service, and the gentleman was friendly and knew his stuff. We have used O'Neil for a number of years first to replace an old boiler and a number of repairs over the years. The engineers really know what they are doing and get the system up and running quickly. Recently I was reviewing my Father in Laws boiler contract with Scottish Gas and was shocked at what he was paying so he is now also on O'Neils £7.50 a month deal which I consider very good value as it includes everything excepting a £80 call out charge, I could have paid £15.00 a month and there would be no call out charge. Even at the £15.00 charge O'Neil is still well under Scottish Gas's tariff.read more

I called O'Neil not expecting an engineer to call until the lock down is over as my heating was stuck on rather than having no heating at all. Hannah got in touch by return and arranged for Brian to call. My heating system is a bit temperamental and driven by an oil fired Raeburn so I am very limited in my choice of companies that can provide comprehensive help. Brian arrived by the back door straight into the kitchen and kept well away from me and the rest of my house (apart from the loft where the problem actually was). Thank you for such a prompt response and observing the social distancing. I am warm and cosy again whenever I choose to be.read more

Called O’Neil last week about a boiler fault. Engineer arrived inside 2 hours, identified the problem, ordered parts and effected a temporary repair. Second engineer replaced the faulty parts a couple of days later. Both engineers were friendly and efficient and ensured that precautions around Covid requirements were fully complied with. Central heating broke down, but when engineer left we ended up with no CH or hot water.took two weeks and a few engineers to get to the root of the cause but eventually O'Neil's sent a young boy called Graeme who was very good. Took a while but all in all the service was very goodread more

We took out the monthly care plan and are now in our 2nd year. Had our annual device yesterday and was really impressed with the engineer who visited (Ross) who took time to go through everything with us and gave some good tips on money saving and safety of the appliances. Was also very grateful that we received a call in the morning to give a precise time for the appointment so we were able to avoid someone waiting in all day for the visit. So I had O'Neils come to service our boiler 10 days ago. It was as I thought a standard service and that would be that. However since the service the boiler has been sporadically making a rattling noise when it comes on. So I got back to O'Neils today (3 kids really busy time of year so yes it took me til today) and they then informed me because it was outside the 10 days they would charge me £72 call fee! First & last time I will be using them. Just want to underline before they came out the boiler was absolutely fine as simply due a service. After they came out the rattling started. Really poor showing from O'Neils and be well aware of this. Unfortunately it won't let me leave less than 1 star.read more

The engineer was very thorough and efficient. He asked to inspect the flue in the loft space which previous engineers had neglected to do. It involved clambering through a tight space but nothing was too much trouble for him. He also asked if I had a CO2 and smoke alarm. He also phoned to let me know what time he was coming which was helpful. Excellent service.read more
